Listen to Hayom Harat Olam - arranged by Carol Boyd Leon:
Hayom Harat Olam
This stirring High Holy Day choral arrangement opens with a melody line designed to replicate the sound of the shofar. Easily performed by just a handful of adult singers and especially effective sung by a large volunteer choir, Hayom Harat Olam can be learned quite quickly. Perhaps you'd like your choir to perform this at one service and then have the congregation sing the all-unison version (included in the Voices In Prayer songbook) at the next. Both the choral version, which is arranged for mixed choir (SAB), and the 1-page congregational sheet music are chorded for improvised guitar or keyboard accompaniment. The choral arrangement is a 4-page, 8.5 x 11-inch score (not a preprinted octavo) which is available for purchase as a download. The $8 purchase entitles you to make as many as 10 copies for your singers. Please purchase this twice ($16) for 20 singers, or three times ($24) for up to 36 singers. The reference recording was made at a summertime rehearsal with just 8 singers from Carol's Olam Tikvah Chorale in July 2010.
Hayom Harat Olam $8.00 for 4-page pdf download. Purchaser is permitted to make 10 copies. Please order quantity 1 if you plan to make 1-10 copies, quantity 2 for 11-20 copies, quantity 3 for up to 36 copies.
Listen to Sea Chanty - arranged by Adrian A. Durlester:
Inspired by the creative spirit of the scribes who shaped the appearance of the Shirat HaYam, this new setting is whimsically set in the style of a hornpipe of sailor's chanty and weaves in melodies for the special and regular tropes. The primary melody, Ashira L’Adonai which appears in the Voices in Prayer songbook, is written in a limited range specifically for performance by a youth choir while the other parts are to be sung by adults. Although children truly love to sing Ashira L’Adonai and their participation is likely to result in a spirited presentation of the music, Sea Chanty has also been successfully performed by only adult singers. This is a wonderful selection for Shabbat Shirah or at other times in place of oft-used settings for the "Mi Chamocha" text. Arranged for mixed choir (SAB), youth choir, soloist, child soloist, keyboard and optional piccolo. This is a 25-page octavo. Click HERE for sample page.

The exciting, Chassidic-sounding melody that appears in Voices in Prayer and the Jewish Life Cycle songbooks is now available as a 14-page SAB arrangement that's as much fun to sing as it is to listen or dance to. If you've got a volunteer choir, they're going to love this arrangement for mixed choir (SAB) and keyboard (includes guitar chords). Click HERE for sample page. Audio is the finale from a 2007 performance in Buenos Aires by Cantor Annie Rose's Kol Halev choir of Temple Beth Emeth of Ann Arbor along with several Argentinian choirs.
